Direct Responsibilities:

– Approve various types of rules, regulations and statutes

– Electing the Rector (under the terms of the law, the Statutes and the electoral regulations)

– Appoint and dismiss members of the Ethics Council and the Student Ombudsperson

– Assess the actions of the Rector and the Management Council

– Propose measures to ensure the proper functioning of the University of Aveiro

– Perform other duties as provided by law or the Statutes

 
Upon Proposal of the Rector:

– Approve strategic plans, action plans, activity plans and reports, and consolidated annual budgets and accounts

– Approve the general guidelines of the University’s scientific, pedagogical, financial, and patrimonial policies

– Create, transform, or dissolve academic units

– Approve the creation of and participation in entities

– Set tuition fees
